The Poway Youth Soccer League (PYSL) is proud to offer our new Vaqueritos Recreational Program housed in our community’s “city in the country”. Our program starts at four years old and provides playing opportunities for our Vaqueritos players (def. as little cowgirls and cowboys). For those pre-Vaqueritos kiddos, ages 2-4, we strongly recommend looking into North County Soccer Park programming in Poway.
Our Vaqueritos programming begins the pathway to our competitive Vaqueros Futbol Club (VFC) and beyond. The Vaqueritos' program is specifically structured toward the recreational side and to enhance the beginning soccer player's enjoyment and development.
Our programs provide our players with an understanding of peer socialization, team/group dynamics, and physical exercise by introducing and teaching age-appropriate technical and tactical skills. All of this in a safe environment that will foster an appreciation and love for the “beautiful” game.
The Vaqueritos' program vision, organization, and implementation are handled by Poway Youth Soccer League's (PYSL), Director of Recreation, Bertin Loyola. Bertin has been involved in youth soccer for more than 15 years while holding the country's highest coaching badge, US Soccer Federation's, National Youth "A" license. When coaching in his twenties, Bertin was admitted into United Soccer Coaches, "Top 30 coaches under 30 years of age" education and mentorship program; a unique and highly coveted program within US Soccer's coaching education system. Bertin also holds the United Soccer Coaches Association's (U.S.C.) highest license, the Premier Diploma.
PYSL Chief Executive Officer and Vaqueros Futbol Club (VFC) General Manager of Soccer Operations, Lev Kirshner (aka, coachK) provides experienced oversight and knowledgeable guidance while structuring our recreational programs. For more than 20 years, Lev successfully managed and led the San Diego State University men’s soccer team, while competing in the Pac-12 soccer conference since 2005.
We will provide VFC directors, staff coaches, and other paid soccer professionals for our player clinics. The weekend games are coached and managed by parent volunteers or in the fall league program, referees for most age groups.
One day, we hope to LASSO these young Vaqueritos soccer players to the competitive branch of the club, where VFC can continue to TACKLE the process of developing high-quality players who will achieve their ultimate GOALS in the game; whether that be high school, college, professional soccer, or to simply continue playing the game they love well into their adult lives.
We look forward to making certain our Vaqueritos kiddos enjoy our fun-filled, recreational program!
